About the speaker

seyed Reza Mahmoudi is a former Senior Research Scientist and An inventor at Raytheon Technologies Research Center (RTX) East Hartford, CT USA – one of the largest aerospace and defense contractors in the world. In RTX, He worked on Electric Aircraft Propulsion (EAP) program with NASA Glenn Research Center, Cleveland OH to understand polymer aging by his universal thermodynamic construct . Dr. Mahmoudi ‘s proposal on polymer aging won $ 3M EAP -NASA fund in July 2020.
Before Joining Raytheon in 2017, Dr. Mahmoudi was a Research Scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Dr. Mahmoudi proposed a novel technique for oil / water separation using unipolar ionic discharge under Shell sponsorship ($ 500K seed-fund). This patented technology in +30 countries resulted in a ~ $ 2M MIT –spinoff (2017-2019) with Shell. In a parallel invention, he proposed a similar technique for fog collection in cooling towers. The MIT-pending patent is now under commercialization with another MIT-spinoff in Somerville MA USA with $ 3M seed-fund by the energy sector. Dr.Mahmoudi’s works are published in prestigious journals including Nature Communications and they are being highlighted in MIT news articles, Science Daily, etc.
Dr. Mahmoudi holds a Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Western Ontario (UWO), London, ON, Canada. He holds MSc and BSc in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Tehran and the University of Birjand, respectively. He holds 8 US Patent applications – three of them are being practiced in three MIT spinoffs
